Cats bring you gifts because they care about you
YOU’RE RIGHT!
There are many reasons why your cat may bring home a gift for you, and while most people don’t really consider a dead animal on the doormat a pleasant surprise, they all go to show that your cat loves you. Whether it’s a toy mouse, a stuffed animal, or real prey, your cat may bring you their trophy to ask you to investigate it, in the hopes of getting a reward, or simply because they think you are a terrible hunter and they don’t want you to starve. How thoughtful of them!
SORRY, YOU’VE GOT IT WRONG…

Cats can fall in love, just like us humans
YOU’RE RIGHT!
While cats can build a strong bond with humans and other animals, they don’t experience romantic love in the same way we do. Cats can feel physical attraction towards other cats, especially during mating season, but these short-lived feelings are entirely driven by hormones and pheromones.

Cats can give ‘love bites’
YOU’RE RIGHT!
When your cat gently sinks their teeth into your skin without causing any bleeding or showing any aggressive body language, we call those nips ‘love bites’. Have you ever been in the situation where your cat bites you and starts licking you right after? This is actually your cat telling you to sit still so they can groom you, just like a momma cat will do with her babies. Some cats might bite you simply to get your attention, which is usually pretty annoying. Are you clueless as to why your cat bites you, or do you want to put an end to the behavior? Read our dedicated article on why your cat bites you and how to stop it.

Any cat should get a huge hug on Valentine’s Day
YOU’RE RIGHT!
Even though some cats love to crawl up on your lap for a cuddle, others aren’t a fan of this kind of physical affection – which doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t like to be around you. Before you grab hold of your cat and give them a squeeze, it’s important to know what your feline’s boundaries are. Tip: Don’t randomly surprise your cat with a big hug but work up to it slowly, giving some back and chin rubs first.

Cats can make lifelong feline friends
YOU’RE RIGHT!
Many feral cats live in colonies, but still have friends within that bigger group with whom they spend more time. Cats from the same litter may feel a sibling connection, but two non-related cats can form solid friendships, too. If you have multiple cats in your household, you probably know exactly what we mean. Are your cats grooming each other one moment, and having a huge fight the next? We dedicated an entire article on this bizarre phenomenon, so go check it out!
